In the heart of our vibrant Latino community, a dream took shape in the unlikeliest of places – a garage. Our ballet program was born from a passion to share the beauty of dance with our children, regardless of financial means. As word spread, our living room at Unidos South OC became our next home, filled with the sound of tiny tutus and eager young dancers.
But our vision was bigger than our space. Thanks to the incredible support of Dance Discovery Foundation, we were able to relocate to a spacious new home at the Boys and Girls Club. Today, our program thrives, offering free ballet classes to dozens of children who may have never imagined themselves in a tutu or on pointe.
And the blessings kept coming! South Coast Conservatory generously donated brand new leotards and ballet slippers for our students, outfitting them in style and confidence. Our dancers’ faces lit up as they put on their new gear, feeling like true ballerinas.
But our program is more than just a pretty pose. Dance has a profound impact on our children’s lives, teaching them valuable skills that extend far beyond the barre. Through dance, our students develop discipline, hard work, and perseverance. They learn to express themselves, build confidence, and foster creativity. They discover the joy of movement, the beauty of music, and the magic of storytelling through dance.

Our students showcase their hard work and dedication three times a year, performing in front of packed audiences. And last year, they even stole the show at the City of San Juan Capistrano Christmas tree lighting celebration, capturing the attention of the city’s mayor and other dignitaries. Their performance was a testament to the power of arts education and the impact it can have on our community.
Our journey is the proof to the power of community, collaboration, and the unwavering belief in the transformative power of dance. We’re honored to share our story, inspiring others to chase their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.
Gracias to our partners, volunteers, and students for making our program a beacon of hope and beauty in our community!
