This Mother’s Day, we raise our arms and our hearts in a standing ovation for the women who help us move through life with strength, rhythm, and love: our dance moms, dancer moms, and dance teachers.
To the dance moms, you are the silent stars behind every stage light. You are the ones who arrive early, stay late, and never miss a beat. You cheer from the front row, sew costumes late into the night, pack ballet slippers, and perfect a bun with a few bobby pins and a whole lot of love. You drive — or in my case, take the subway and two buses — just to make sure your child doesn’t miss a class. You wait patiently through rehearsals, performances, and growth. You see the spark and do everything you can to keep it alive.
Thank you to my mom, who always cheered for me. She was in the front row at every show, paid for countless costumes, ballet slippers, and dance supplies. She committed to taking me to ballet class every single day, waited for me outside, and made the long journey with me (by subway and two buses ) just so I could train. She washed and sewed my shoes, did my hair and makeup for every performance, and never stopped believing in my dream.
And now, as a mom myself and a dance teacher, I see the dancer moms; the women balancing motherhood with pliés and performance, diapers and dance shoes. To my mother-in-law, thank you for watching my son Sebastian so I can go teach, perform, or take class. You allow me to keep dancing and giving back to the next generation of movers.
And finally, to the dance teachers who are moms, thank you. You give so much of yourselves, not just to your own children, but to your students as well. You pour your love, energy, and heart into every class, becoming mentors and second mothers to many.
This day let’s celebrate all the mothers in our OC DanceFit family. Because behind every dancer is a mom (or two!) who helped make it all possible.
Happy Mother’s Day! You are seen, loved, and deeply appreciated.
❤️
