Elizabeth Azamatov

Elizabeth Azamatov is a Mexican-born multidisciplinary artist, educator, author, and the founder and director of OC DanceFit, established in 2015. With a career that blends classical ballet, theater, cultural arts, bilingual education, and storytelling, Elizabeth believes that the arts are powerful tools for connection, confidence, and personal expression.

Born in Mexico City, Elizabeth began her formal dance training at the age of seven at the Institute of Arts of Mexico City, where she studied under Mónica Pizano and Alma Urdapilleta, under the guidance of Laura Urdapilleta Trueba, a prima ballerina of the National Dance Company of Mexico. Her connection to the professional stage began at a young age when she performed for three consecutive years in The Nutcracker with the National Dance Company of Mexico at Mexico City’s renowned Auditorio Nacional. Those early experiences became the foundation of her lifelong dedication to dance and the performing arts.

At the age of twelve, Elizabeth was accepted into the National School of Dance in Mexico City, where she trained in both Vaganova and Cuban ballet techniques. Throughout her career, she has performed in classical and contemporary productions including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, La Bayadère, The Nutcracker, and An American in Paris. In 2012, she joined South Coast Ballet Theatre, where she performed as a soloist under the direction of Sara Day and Maria Tikhomirova.

Elizabeth’s artistic background extends beyond dance. She is a Meisner Technique–trained actress, incorporating principles of emotional authenticity, character development, and storytelling into her creative work and teaching philosophy. Her interdisciplinary approach allows her to combine movement, theater, imagination, and cultural exploration in unique educational experiences.

Through OC DanceFit, Elizabeth creates bilingual arts programs that combine ballet, creative movement, cultural dance, drama, fitness, and storytelling for students of all ages. She is also the creator of a bilingual online arts school, bringing dance and language-based learning experiences to students beyond the traditional classroom.

As an author, Elizabeth founded OC DanceFit Press and writes bilingual children’s books that celebrate the connection between dance, culture, and imagination. Her published work, Tutus y Calaveras, combines ballet with Mexican Día de Muertos traditions, introducing young readers to the beauty of dance while honoring cultural heritage.

Alongside her work in the arts, Elizabeth has a strong passion for language and education. She holds a Certificate in Grammar and Punctuation from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a Diploma in Spanish Language from the University of Valencia, Spain. She is currently pursuing studies in Cultural Management at the National Center of the Arts in Mexico, continuing to expand her knowledge of arts administration, culture, and creative leadership.

Elizabeth has extensive experience as a dance and drama educator and works as a teaching artist with organizations including the Art-E Foundation and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts through the Cassin Promise program. Through these partnerships, she brings arts education to various school districts throughout South Orange County, as well as community programs such as the Boys & Girls Club. Her teaching experience also includes working with underserved youth and participating in arts initiatives serving young people in juvenile detention settings. Through dance and theater, Elizabeth uses the arts as a tool for creativity, confidence, self-expression, and personal growth.

Her commitment to dance education includes completing the Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Techniques program in Long Beach, California, earning a Certificate in Pedagogy and Didactics of Children’s Dance from the Institute of Culture of Zacatecas, Mexico, and becoming certified in PiYo, a fusion of Pilates and yoga.

Elizabeth remains actively involved in the performing arts community, frequently participating in dance festivals and interdisciplinary performances, including appearances as a guest performer with LaViVa Flamenco Dance Company. She has also worked as a stage manager for major dance competitions such as Youth Ballet Masters and Magic in Motion, and continues collaborating on creative projects with dancers, filmmakers, and other artists.

Through her work as a performer, educator, author, and cultural artist, Elizabeth continues to build bridges between cultures—using dance, language, and storytelling to inspire every student to discover their voice, strength, and artistry.
